NFL Draft Rankings: Wide Receiver

Wide-out is a weak position in this draft class, but at its top is a very underrated player:

1. Limas Sweed [Texas]
Tall and fast, the perfect combination make the lean Sweed this year's Calvin Johnson

2. DeSean Jackson [California]
Jacksons' lack of size limits him as a wide receiver, but as an athlete his return skills are unmatched, making him a golden commodity in this draft.

3. Early Doucet [LSU]
Doucet is small, but his speed and good hands make up for that. He projects as an excellent 3rd receiver/possession wide-out.

4. Devin Thomas [Michigan State]
Thomas is an underrated player this year. He has both the ability to run a great route for that short reception, and run a streak down the field as a deep threat.

5. James Hardy [Indiana]
I'm on the fence about Hardy. His size is great, but his speed is lacking. You have to project him as a possibility to convert to tight end.

NFL Draft Rankings: Big Board

Overall, the top players available in this draft class:

1. Jake Long, Michigan

2. Darren McFadden, Arkansas

3. Chris Long, Virginia

4. Matt Ryan, Boston College

5. Jonathon Stewart, Oregon

6. Glenn Dorsey, LSU

7. Ryan Clady, Boise State

8. Limas Sweed, Texas

NFL Draft Rankings: Defensive Lineman

1. Chris Long [Virginia] Flex:Defensive end/linebacker
The son of Howie Long, Chris has had a huge rise in his stock after his senior season. He is a overpowering flex linebacker/defensive end who could blow past an offensive lineman on the corner and explode on a running back for the tackle.

2. Glenn Dorsey [LSU] defensive tackle/nose tackle
Going into this season, Dorsey was the best defensive player in the country. However, injuries limited his effectiveness this year. Dorsey played through many of his injuries this year and is a dominating presence on the interior defensive line that requires a double team.

3. Vernon Gholston [Ohio State] defensive end
Gholston is sort of a project, but has amazing athletic tools that allow him to blow past lineman. He is unpolished as a defender after coming out of college after his junior year, but the ceiling is high on this Buckeye.

4. Sedrick Ellis [USC] defensive tackle
Ellis is a solid, safe player for this draft. He projects as an overpowering defender that requires a double-team, but lacks the invincible dominance that those above him on this list possess.

5. Derrick Harvey [Florida] defensive end
Harvey is a great all-around athlete coming off the corner. His size and speed makes him an ideal sackmaster off the edge.

NFL Draft Rankings: Offensive Lineman

I'd like to point you over to the side of the blog... the rankings list for the NFL Draft have been updated and changed. Check them out!

1. Jake Long [Michigan] Offensive Tackle
Top 3 player in the draft this year, a dominate player at a position that any good team needs. Needs to improve his speed in stopping speed defensive ends off the corner.

2. Ryan Clady [Boise State] Offensive Tackle
Speedy offensive tackle who can get up the field and advance the play. Struggles on run blocking against over powering players.

3. Steve Justice [Wake Forest] Center
Justice would be a great player in a scheme that includes screen plays or getting pulled out of position to block. Would struggle to hold position without beating defender to point of contact. Undersized against large defensive tackles.

4. Jeff Otah [Pittsburgh] Offensive Tackle
Otah is a wildcard as an NFL player. While the ceiling is high, he is completely unpolished. He got by in the Big East on his size and strength alone, but against any speed defensive end or technician, he would be dominated.

5. Branden Albert [Virginia] Guard
Albert may be a possibility to move to tackle because of size. His huge 6-7 frame may cause large defensive tackles to overpower him. Would struggle against a nose guard.

NFL Draft Rankings: Runningbacks

Way to Early NFL Draft Rankings
Runningbacks

1. Darren McFadden [Arkansas]
McFadden is the top player in terms of talent in the upcoming NFL draft. He is a complete
player in terms of receiving out of the backfield. His speed and strength are unmatched.

2. Jonathon Stewart [Oregon]
Assuming he comes out as a junior, Stewart's size makes him a perfect fit for the NFL. He is
the best power back in the draft and can be used in any situation in the NFL

3. Rashard Mendenhall [Illinois]
Many question Mendenhall's ability to carry the load at the NFL level because he was only the premier back at Illinois for one year, but he is easily the most explosive back in the draft.

4. Jamaal Charles [Texas]
You could make the arguement that Charles is the purest runner in the draft. In space or in between the tackles, he is extremely explosive. However, he is unpolished as a complete back and there are question marks about his blocking and receiving ability.

5. Chris Johnson [East Carolina]
I'm really big on Chris Johnson. He easily has the best speed in possibly the entire draft. A team could use him as a kick/punt returner in addition to a break-away back on offense. His 4.24 second 40-yard dash impressed many at the Combine.

NFL Draft Rankings: Defensive backs and Linebackers

Linebackers
1. Xavier Adibi: [Virginia Tech] 99 tackles, 13 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 INT
Solid all-around LB. Needs to work on his strength and tackling in big situations (See LSU game this year)

2. Dan Conner: [Penn State] 136 tackles, 17 TFL, 7 sacks, 1 INT
Another star out of Linebacker U, should be a good fit for a team needing a run-stopper

3. Jordan Dizon: [Colorado] 149 tackles, 11 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 INT
Another run-stopper, with decent speed to the outside. One of the best LBs in the country in coverage

4. Keith Rivers [USC] 56 tackles, 3 rec fumbles, 1 INT
Another in the recent line of talent going to the NFL out of Southern Cal.

5. Ali Highsmith [LSU] 86 tackles, 10 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 FF
One of my favorite LBs in the country. above average speed, good in coverage, needs to improve tackling one-on-one

Defensive backs
1. Antoine Cason [Arizona] 69 tackles, 11 passes defended, 2 FF, 5 INT, 2 TD
The best defensive player in the country this year. Unbelievable versatility

2. Aqib Talib: [Kansas] 61 tackles, 13 passes defended, 4 INT, 1 TD
My personal favorite. Very versatile as a CB

3. Malcolm Jenkins: [Ohio State] 44 tackles, 3 passes defended, 3 INT, 1 TD
Defensive back that is prepared the most for the NFL now. Needs to work on tackling, and build up size

4. Eric Wicks [West Virginia] 40 tackles, 4 passes defended, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 3 INT
Underrated cornerback/safety. Has size to help the rush defense and drop back into coverage

5. DeJuan Tribble [Boston College] 33 tackles, 8 passes defensed, 1 FF, 4 INT
May not have the size to play in the NFL. But neither did Bob Sanders
