In possibly the biggest matchup on the NBA season thus far, the Detroit Pistons beat the Boston Celtics 87-85 on two late Chauncey Billups free throws.
The game was close for nearly the entire time and the Celtics lead for 3 quarters, but the Pistons had the defense to win down the stretch, shutting down the Celtics big-3 offensive attack.
In my opinion, the Pistons did not win this game, the Celtics and the referees lost it. There were plenty of foul calls, and plenty of missed calls but the biggest shortcoming the Celts had was Rajon Rondo. The young point guard started out on a man on fire, with over 15 points and six assists in the first half. However, with 5 fouls in the 3rd quarter Rondo was unable to keep up his aggressive defense and attacking offense and had to be pulled from the game.
Overall, a good win for the Pistons, but something to build on for the Celtics. They showed they could stick with a top-team for 48 minutes.
